Delete your MakeSense account
You can delete your MakeSense account and the data that goes with it yourself, inside the app, at any time.
Delete it in the app
- Open the MakeSense app and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Choose Delete account.
- Type
DELETEand choose Delete Forever.
The deletion happens straight away and cannot be undone.
If you cannot use the app
Email MakeSense@gmail.com from the email address you signed up with, with the subject Delete my MakeSense account. We may ask you to confirm it is you. We will delete the account and reply within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your account: email address, sign-in details and display name.
- Every device on your account, with its settings, automations, dashboards and preferences.
- All readings, events and commands for those devices. (Readings and events are in any case deleted automatically after 30 days.)
- Your sharing: other people lose access to your devices, and you lose access to devices shared with you.
- Recipes you published to the community library.
- Your notification tokens, so alerts stop reaching your phone.
Your physical controllers are not affected and keep running the last settings they received. They stop reporting to the app because the account no longer exists.
What we keep
Before the account is removed we save a few anonymous totals: the account's age, how many devices it had, how many readings and events there were, and when the last reading arrived. They contain no name, email address, user ID or device identifier and cannot be traced back to you.
Our database provider may keep backup copies for a limited time after deletion. Backups are not used to restore a deleted account.
Delete some data without closing the account
- A device: remove it in the app, which deletes its settings and history.
- Old readings: in Settings, choose Purge Old Data to delete readings older than 1, 3, 5 or 7 days.
- Location: a device's coordinates are removed when you remove the device, and you can turn off the location permission in your phone's settings at any time.
